How Do You Get Crispy Skin on Air Fryer Chicken Drumsticks?

Achieving that ultimate, golden-brown crunch on your chicken skin comes down to a simple yet non-negotiable science: removing moisture. Follow these three pro-tips for guaranteed crispiness every time:
1. Pat Them Completely Dry: Before adding any seasoning, use plenty of kitchen paper to thoroughly pat down each chicken drumstick. Any leftover surface moisture will cause the chicken to steam rather than fry, resulting in rubbery skin.
2. Add a Touch of Oil: Even though air frying requires up to 95% less oil, tossing your dried drumsticks with just a teaspoon of vegetable or olive oil helps conduct the high heat evenly, unlocking that perfect crackling crunch.
3. Give Them Space: Avoid crowding or overlapping the chicken in your COSORI air fryer basket. Arranging them in a single layer ensures the rapid hot air can circulate 360° around every single drumstick, crisping the skin evenly from top to bottom.

What Internal Temperature Should Chicken Drumsticks Be?

To make sure your chicken is perfectly cooked, juicy, and entirely safe to eat, always rely on temperature rather than time or visual guesswork.

1. The Golden Standard: Insert a digital food thermometer into the thickest part of the drumstick, making sure it does not touch the bone. Once it reads 75°C (165°F), your chicken is fully cooked, safe to enjoy, and at its peak tenderness.
2. Why the Bone Matters: Touching the bone with your thermometer probe will give you an artificially high reading, leading you to pull the chicken out too early.

Best Side Dishes to Pair with Lemon Garlic Chicken

Looking to turn these zesty lemon garlic drumsticks into a complete, comforting British family meal? These air-fried classics pair beautifully with the refreshing citrus flavors:

Homemade Potato Wedges: Crispy on the outside and wonderfully fluffy on the inside, these seasoned wedges are the ultimate companion to soak up any leftover lemon garlic juices.

Crispy Roasted Vegetables: Toss some seasonal peppers, red onions, and courgettes into your basket right after the chicken. The slight sweetness of caramelized veg cuts through the zesty lemon notes flawlessly.
