How to Get Sugar to Stick to Air-Fried Donuts Without Deep Frying?
When you deep-fry a doughnut, the wet oil on the surface naturally acts as a glue for sugar or cinnamon. Since your COSORI air fryer cooks with hot air, the surface comes out dry. Here is the bakery secret to making your toppings stick perfectly:
The Melted Butter Brush: As soon as the donuts finish cooking and are still piping hot from the air fryer basket, lightly brush the tops with a tiny amount of melted butter (or spray with a light mist of vegetable oil spray). Immediately toss them in your bowl of caster sugar or cinnamon sugar. The heat combined with the fine glaze of butter will create the perfect sticky surface, trapping the sugar instantly for that authentic bakery look without the grease!
Can You Use Store-Bought Biscuit or Pizza Dough for Quick Air Fryer Donuts?
Absolutely! If you want freshly baked donuts in under 10 minutes without waiting hours for homemade yeast dough to rise, you can use this brilliant supermarket hack:
The 10-Minute Supermarket Hack: Grab a tin of chilled pizza dough or ready-made pastry dough from the supermarket fridge aisle. Roll it out, use a biscuit cutter (or a clean bottle cap) to punch out your donut shapes and holes. Arrange them in a single layer in your COSORI air fryer basket, cook at 180°C for 5–6 minutes until puffed up and golden, and they are ready to glaze! It is the ultimate weekend breakfast shortcut.
