How Do You Get the Flour Coating Crispy (Not Dusty) in an Air Fryer?

The biggest complaint when making traditional flour-dredged fried chicken in an air fryer is coming out with dry, white, dusty flour patches. Here is the golden rule to ensure a flawless, golden-brown fast-food crunch:
1. The Wet-and-Dry Rest: After dipping your chicken in buttermilk and dredging it through your seasoned flour mixture, let the coated chicken rest on a wire rack for 5–10 minutes before cooking. This allows the flour to absorb the moisture from the chicken and buttermilk, turning it into a wet paste that sticks beautifully.
2. The Generous Oil Spray Mist: Right before placing them into your COSORI air fryer basket, spray the chicken pieces generously with a high-quality cooking oil spray until no dry white flour remains visible. The rapid hot air requires this fine mist of oil to properly fry and toast the flour coating into a uniform, crispy exterior!

Can You Put Raw Batter in an Air Fryer?

This is a vital safety and maintenance question that thousands of British home cooks search for on Google, and answering it correctly showcases massive brand authority:

1. The Strict Answer: No, you should never put wet, dripping liquid batter (like British fish-and-chips beer batter) directly into an air fryer basket. The wet batter will simply drip through the holes of the grate before the hot air has a chance to set it, creating a giant burnt mess at the bottom.

2. The Golden Alternative: For the ultimate air-fried chicken, always stick to the three-step dredging method (Flour -> Egg/Buttermilk -> Flour or Breadcrumbs). This creates a secure, structured coating that locks onto the chicken instantly under the 360° rapid airflow!
